Thursday Evening
On a warm Thursday evening, sitting on my porch, I'm waiting for the sun to go down. But I realize that there will be no sunset. The air is too heavy, not like fog, but more like the pressure of when you're waiting for RAIN.
It starts off slowly, softly filling the sky with tears. Then in the distance a small lightning bolt lights up the sky. One, two, three, four, five. A low rumble follows after. Some say that means that the storm is roughly five miles away.
I move my chair further back on the porch so as not to get wet, but also to have a better view. It doesn't take long before the rain is no longer gentle. The wind has picked up as well. I take the blanket from the bench and wrap it around my shoulders.
Just then, the sky lights up with a brilliant display of electricity. Long streaks like fireworks stretch throughout the sky. One, two, th…a deep growl reverberates, long and loud. I realize that the thunder is closer to me than I thought. I also realize that I'm smiling ear to ear.
I love it when thunderstorms fall on Thursday evenings!

I like this image. It’s so pleasant.
I love thunderstorms too. I miss them. In South Africa when I lived there I really loved watching the storm and the thunder and lightning. Amazing.
